Respecting one another is fundamental in every person's life, and a respect-filled life is what every individual desires. With the ability to respect one another, then peace will prevail within the world. It's normal to wish for respect from all others, but there will be some who will not offer the respect as desired.

Naturally, that is quite unfair because when one wishes for respect, one should first give respect to others, meaning they should reasonably respect everyone else. In turn, that will also give others a reason to respect him/her as well. Because of this, as much as possible, Indonesian society needs to uphold values such as tolerance, respect, and acceptance, as these diverse elements contribute greatly to maintaining the integrity of this nation.

Sadly, a few people in the modern world are still unbearably intolerant. If I scale up the intolerance, it threatens the existing cohesion, which has been very vital for the Indonesian unity due to the tolerance and togetherness of all its people. But rather, avoiding the spread of hate is something that lies in our hands.

My strategy for reviving tolerance in Indonesia through educating all Indonesians about pro-peace narratives is to join groups that advocate for peace. As history shows, both the realization of the value of tolerance and understanding diversity of people co-existing in the same country was a significant factor in assisting the people of Indonesia to fight for their independence. This in turn helped the people of Indonesia from Sabang to Merauke to imagine and live as one people despite the diverse ethnic group, cultures, and beliefs that characterize the nation.

As a result, I believe that if I work hard towards raising awareness on the need for tolerance and diversity among all Indonesians, I will be able to win the fight against intolerance. I trust that people will also do the same and send out messages promoting peace through the internet and engage in no activities that are incendiary towards building a calm and peacefully tolerant Indonesia.
